Study Links Newborn Jaundice to Autism

A recent Danish study suggests that babies with newborn jaundice have a higher risk of developing autism than other babies.  According to the study, which examined nearly 734,000 children born between 1994 and 2004, babies with jaundice – high levels of bilirubin which causes the skin to turn yellow – were 67 percent more likely to be diagnosed with autism.
